What our Academy participants are saying:
This is my first course on Trauma.
Being an adoptive mom and working with fostering families I have learned so much! I know it is said a lot but I wish I would have taken this course years ago. My handling of my oldest adoptive daughter would have been completely different. I am thankful I now know so much more about her trauma brain and I have hope that I can help her move forward.
I have learned a lot about how I can support our Foster families and provide care for their children when they are in our church community. I see their behaviour completely differently now and I am able to train my volunteers on sensitivity to behaviour and understanding how to better handle situations that come up. I now see it more as a partnership with the parents on their child's care when they are with us and look forward to working with them more collaboratively to ensure they are supported and feel part of our community, however their family dynamic is.
I appreciate the grace I have learned to give myself and those parents I work with on handling some of these tough situations with kid’s behaviour. I see through a different lens. A more Christ like lens. And that makes my heart happy!

BOOK CLUBS
BOOK CLUBS offer a chance to listen/read relevant content from each of our 4 learning streams and engage together in an informal dialogue.
LEARNING MODES
We understand that everyone learns differently.
The Academy offers various contexts for learning to meet unique needs and preferences:
MINI-SESSIONS
MINI-SESSIONS give an introduction to key topics and include practical take-homes that can be implemented immediately. These single session events are maximum two-hours in length.
MASTER CLASSES
MASTER CLASSES are comprehensive courses, typically offered over a period of weeks or months and include a certificate of completion.
EXPERIENCES
EXPERIENCES allow participants to ‘live’ the learning opportunity. Examples include poverty simulation or visiting the Indigenous history of Canada through the Blanket Exercise.
STORYTELLING
STORYTELLING utilizes this powerful medium in a live format intended to spark personal and community learning and conversation in a sharing circle that follows.
RELATED EVENTS
RELATED EVENTS are learning opportunities offered by other organizations. Our primary goal as CareImpact is to bridge between need and opportunity. We only create something new when we are not able to find quality relevant content elsewhere.
